Tetsuro (Tet) Oki
CEO, TET LTD. ／ JP-EN Interpreter & Coordinator in Tokyo | Community Manager, UTokyo Blockchain Innovation Program | Japan-side know-how: crypto community, fashion buying & trade shows, live events & artist visas

I work between Japanese and English, and I have spent most of my career as the person in the middle — interpreting, coordinating, and making sure things that cross a border actually land.

Right now I am Community Manager for the Blockchain Innovation Program at the University of Tokyo, School of Engineering. The program’s Discord community has grown past 4,000 students and alumni. That seat gives me a fairly unusual vantage point: I see, day to day, who in Japan is actually learning this technology, what they build, where they get stuck, and which parts of the regulatory picture they find hardest to work around.

Before that I worked in two other worlds. In apparel, I interpreted and assisted buyers at exhibitions in Paris — I was not the one signing, but I sat through the process often enough to know how the Japanese buying side really decides. In live music, I handled artist care for visiting foreign musicians, including the visa and status-of-residence work that trips up almost everyone bringing talent into Japan.

I studied English literature and fashion merchandising at Marymount University in Virginia.

These days I also run TET LTD., a small software practice in Tokyo. I have published two plugins on the official WordPress directory, one of which checks e-commerce checkout flows against WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility criteria.
